Mayor Mark Larson called to order the August 3, 2026, City Council meeting in the Argyle Council Chambers at 7:00 PM. Members present were David Gunderson, Zachary Beaudry, Mark Larson, Penni Anderson and Aaron Rivard. Also in attendance were Mark & Katie Ellerbusch, Jon Olson from Apex Engineering, Michael Pagnac, Mason Mock, and Tamara Benitt. Motion by Aaron Rivard, seconded by Penni Anderson, to approve the minutes of the previous meeting. Motion carried.

Mark Ellerbusch, Marshall County Sheriff Candidate, introduced himself to the Council. He discussed several priorities, including implementation of a field training officer program, improved communication between the Sheriff's Office and local councils, updating city ordinances so they can be entered into the state system and enforced, and the school resource officer position. Mark and Katie Ellerbusch then left the meeting.

Motion by Zach Beaudry, seconded by Aaron Rivard, to approve proceeding with the fire hall site layout with the changes of no asphalt and the shortened water main. Motion carried.

Motion by Aaron Rivard, seconded by David Gunderson, to approve the quote from NPL on installation of gas main to Fire Hall for $19,500.00. Motion carried.

The Council agreed to stop signs being installed on Pacific and Sutton facing both North and South.

Motion by Zach Beaudry, seconded by Aaron Rivard, to approve the City paying for the repair costs of the water leak at Cedar South. Motion carried.

Motion by Zach Beaudry, seconded by Aaron Rivard, to approve the Maintenance Report. Motion carried.

Motion by Zach Beaudry, seconded by Aaron Rivarrd, to approve Haven Hair Co a low-interest loan from A.R.E.D.A. Motion carried.

Summer Recreation Director/Head Coach Anders Thompson submitted a Summer Rec. Report for the Council to review. Motion by David Gunderson, seconded by Aaron Rivard, to approve the Summer Rec. Report. Motion carried.

Building permits: Paul Lacrosse - fencing, Pro Contractors - storage, and Courtney Gratzek - porch addition. Motion by Penni Anderson, seconded by Aaron Rivard, to approve the building permits. Motion carried.

Motion by David Gunderson, seconded by Penni Andereson, to counteroffer Trilogy $5,000.00 for the bulkfill property located on Highway 75. Motion carried.

The first Monday in September falls on Labor Day. The City Office and City Shop will be closed on Monday, September 7th for Labor Day. The next Council meeting will be held on September 2, 2026, at 7:00PM.

Motion by Penni Anderson, second by Aaron Rivard, to approve the bills presented for payment, the Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, delinquent accounts and vacation & sick leave. Motion carried.

After discussion, motion by Zach Beaudry, seconded by Penni Anderson, to approve using the $15,000 economic development allocation and paying the remaining approximate difference of $1,655 to complete the landscaping work at the Suites with New Lawn. Motion carried.

Motion by Zach Beaudry, seconded by Aaron Rivard, to approve and install new material to the front of the grandstand/backstop in the amount of $1,986.00. Motion carried.

Being no further business, motion by Zach Beaudry, second by Aaron Rivard, to adjourn. Motion carried.

  • Recycling: Waste Management recycling tote pickup will be on September 16, 2026.
  • City Office & City Shop Hours:
    • Monday to Thursday: 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM
    • Friday: 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM
  • Curbside Compost Pickup: Mondays (Spring thru Fall).
    • Haul garden and yard waste (trees, branches, leaves, etc.) to your berm for Monday pickup.
    • All smaller clippings must be bagged or in a can.
    • Fees: ½ Truckload - $30.00 | Full Truckload - $50.00 | Anything smaller is free of charge
  • Dumpster Rentals: Available through the City Office.
    • Call 218-437-6621 to get a list of acceptable items and to schedule a drop off date.
    • Cost: $45.00 + tax
